New Fieldhouse Funding Announced

After 10 years of organizing, this past summer Alderman Manny Flores & Park District Superintendent Tim Mitchell announced full funding for a new fieldhouse at Haas!  During our movie in the park to inaugurate the new grassy area, Alderman Flores announced that he was committing several years of funds from his "aldermanic menu" allotment to the project. Combined with previous commitments from the Park District, there is now enough to build a mid-sized fieldhouse.

Green City Gardening Project

The Green City Project is a gardening/clean neighborhood club dedicated to the beautification of Haas Park, informing our youth of the importance of the Green movement and spending some quality time with our neighbors and Mother Earth!!

Bowling Banquet

It's time again for the Haas Park Bowling Banquet. Last year's event successfully raised a few thousand bucks for the Advisory Council and more importanly, everyone had a great time. Once again, we'll be throwing down at Fireside Bowl on May 17th from 5-8pm. A $50 ticket gets you bowling, food and open beer and wine bar. There will be kid activities at the Fieldhouse to let Mom & Dad have a little fun by themselves. For tickets, email Tony Porfirio

Spring Programming

On-line registration for spring programs at Haas Park begins February 23 and in person registration begins February 28th. The programs run from 3/30/2009 - 6/7/2009. For details, visit the Park District Website

Street Closure Begins

On July 21st, the Dept. of Transportation closed off the short section of Fairfield Ave. between the playlot and the park expansion site. Temporary jersey barricades separate the new park area from the playlot and keep the cars off the old street. After the concrete is removed by CDOT, the Park District will remove about 12 inches of topsoil and replace with new soil and sod. Once this is complete, a permanent fence will be installed around the perimeter of the new area.

Trust for Public Land: Make Room for Parks

The Trust For Public Land published a great feature story about Haas Park and the Bloomingdale Trail, written by Chicago Tribune opinion writer John McCarron. Check out the great photos of our longtime Advisory Council leader (and illustrated man) Phil Jones!

Welcome to our new website

We're just piecing this site together at the moment, so bear with us. Much like the park, it is a work in progress.
